TPC at Scottsdale - Desert Course17020 N Hayden RdScottsdale, AZ 85255 Phone: (480)585-3600Fax: (480)585-3151 This resort, which was named by "GOLF Magazine" to its 1998 list of "Silver Medal Resorts," has two regulation eighteen hole courses. The Stadium Course is a spacious layout fringed by saguaro cacti and mesquite trees, with a broad view of famed Pinnacle Peak to the north. This course can be quite a substantial challenge because of the mounds and bunkers strategically placed throughout its design. This course has a desert ambiance, but the natural terrain doesn't come into play. "Golf Digest" rated the Stadium Course as the 17th "Best in State" course for 1996. The Desert Course is more typical of a target course. It is shorter, but tighter than its sister course, and errant shots are likely to trickle into desert shrub. The PGA Phoenix Open is held every January on the Stadium Course. Golfers may walk the Desert Course, however carts are mandatory on the Stadium Course. There is also a giant practice facility that is frequented by PGA professionals Tom Lehman and Steve Jones. The Stadium Course was closed from June through October during 1997 to allow time for the greens to be renovated. Tee times can be reserved ninety days in advance on the Stadium Course.
