This very scenic course affords a scenic view of the countryside from every hole. The fairways are wide, and the greens are medium in size and speed. Water hazards (two creeks and a lake) come into play on eight holes. Tee times must be reserved for weekends and holidays.

Since the new owners have taken over last summer the course is back. I am so excited to see the course back in good shape it's so much fun to play this very wonderful course. The greens are comming back and are in good shape the driving range is open so I can practice hitting my driver. They even have food at the clubhouse know I can't wait to play the course a lot this summer.

I learned the game on this course. High School JV practiced there so I have a real big soft spot for it. Unfortunately the housing development swallowed up the best holes on the course at the top. You use to get to 6, shoot up this huge hill to the green, 7 was great, a dog leg right you could slice it to the green if you hit it hard enough and it rolled. 8 was a par 3 and 9 finished shooting down hill, so sad they are all gone. It was a lot of fun to play when it was maintained and kept in decent enough shape. But now when I drive by, it looks like the greens have grown, and no one is taking care of it. Quite sad, I really loved playing on that No Bunker course.

good course for beginners, Jun 05, 2010 |

This course is good for beginners. If you don't mind losing a few balls in the water. The hardest hole for beginners is the 8th hole going across a big pond. The best time to play this course is may through september maybe october. winter months are alright to play in but be prepared to be walking through mud.

This used to be an ok course when it was it was Sauk Mountain View. Now the city of Sedro Woolley owns it and it's gone completely downhill. The greens are in absymal shape, with patches of sand showing through on every hole and no evidence of any attempts to correct this. The fairways feel like short rough and you can lose a ball in the middle of a fairway in one of the many holes I've found. The $12 all day play is overcharging. It's a good place to practice your driving, since they've closed the driving range, and a place to practice your pitching wedge, but thats all. Make the trip to Overlook on Hwy 9 for a decent quick 9.

Course has interesting layout, wide open spaces and decent greens. Nothing too spectacular, but you can do a lot worse than spend an afternoon at Gateway.
