This course has both small and large greens. The fairway rough has been cut into three sections: regular, intermediate, and difficult. This club was originally founded in 1895 and has been listed by the USGA as one of the first 100 clubs established in the U.S. "GOLF Magazine" also recognized it in their 1995 list of "The First 100 Clubs in America." After Robert Fowler redesigned three holes in 1922, Donald Ross redesigned the entire course in 1923, followed by Ed Seay in 1975.

| I'm a caddy at the course and play it occasionally. I see many different parts of the course and I see people with many views of it. when I play I always need to bring my short game and definatley need to be putting well to have decent score. many of the par 4's drivable and most of the par 5's are on in 2 holes. the par 3's are short and some are downhill but it is a well kept and very exclusive course that honors it's members privacy as you would expect from any upscale club. All in all it is a pretty good course and is great to go out and enjoy an afternoon 9 or come out in the morning and play a full 18. I give this course 5 stars |

| Allegheny offers a very private, and enjoyable experience. The course is rarely busy, and offers a real challenge with the short stick. Many of the holes are a bit short, but if you can't putt, you will not score well. The ground are kept in immaculate condition, and the scenery, especially on the back nine, is breathtaking. |
