This is a very demanding course. The greens are fast and difficult to read. Water hazards come into play on a few holes. Hole #8, a 406-yard, par 4, requires a carry of at least 175 yards to clear Lake O'Dowd. A leisurely ferryboat ride will take you to the fairway where your approach shot will need to negotiate its way past a 100-year-old oak tree guarding the green.

farways need work and some greens, waiting behind other people 4 to 5 min before tee off at every hole. 2nd cut of grass way to long makes it hard to find balls. will never play here because the first experience should be the best.

"Best Kept Secret In Central VA"
Of all the courses I have played through out VA I would have to say this is one of the best kept secrets in Virginia. The greens are very fast but yet they hold very well. The vista's of the mountains on the back nine are breath taking. The #17 hole could one day be as comparable to one of the holes at Augusta or the TPC Sawgrass. Its and old club with alot of history set up in a beautiful historic town! If you can get your self and invitation to play it I would highly recommend it. Keep your head down and let it rip. Bill P.

Children's Course, The
"Fun little course"
This is a great course to learn for kids, they have a good teaching staff that offers camps clinics and private lessons. My kids have all participated in them and have learned alot about life skills both on and off the course.

"Love the Greens"
This course is back on the map. I use to play it a long time ago but was never in good condition. You should see it now. The new owners have begun work on the irrigation system, cart paths all the way around and over seeded the entire course. It is definiteley a must play for the value.
