Maybe it was a Fluke..., Aug 26, 2006

| Being new to the area and missing my home course...we were invited to play golf with another couple. The clubhouse was cool and inviting. A nice place to settle in after a round of golf. The front nine was in beautiful condition although basically a rather flat layout. When we had arrived at the 9th hole and was already putting on the green the foresome behind us (all men) hit right into the green barely missing one of the women. Needless to say we were not happy. The men were not very apologetic. A ranger about that time would have been handy. Recently we played the same couple only this time we played the back nine. I must admit the back nine was only in fair shape..the fairways being burned by the summer sun and fungus in the grass was rampant. The greens however were in very good shape. The back nine had more water hazards that made for interesting play. Before we started off we let a foresome of men play ahead of us. What made this group interesting...which I have never encountered at any course I have ever played is that 3 of the four were shirtless! And one of them golfed barefoot! Let me tell you...the Chippendales they were not..it was more like 'Chip and Dale does Shelby'. The only thing missing was a goat tied to the back of their cart and a piece of straw sticking out of their teeth. I suppose it could have been worse... they could have been drunk and obnoxious but they were a friendly if not half-naked bunch. Only one let his pants slide down far enough to reveal a plumber's crack. There's a reason why better golf courses have dress codes. I noticed a sign on the clubhouse door. "No shirt, No shoes, No service". I'd like to think of Woody Ridge as a better golf course..perhaps this was a fluke. |

| I HAVE PLAYED THIS COURSE MANY TIMES OVER THE LAST 20 YEARS. THE COURSE IS WELL MAINTAINED AND THE CLUB HOUSE STAFF IS EXCELLENT. THE GREENS ARE ALWAYS SMOOTH AND USUALLY FAST. I HAVE ALWAYS ENJOYED PLAYING THE COURSE AND HOPE TO PLAY IT MANY TIMES IN THE FUTURE. |
