This beautiful course offers a view of the Atlantic Ocean from fourteen holes. The fairways are wide open, and there are a lot of hills that can cause uneven lies. Nantucket Island is accessible by ferry or small airplane. "Golf Digest" rated it the 4th "Best in State" course in 1997-98. "GOLFWEEK" ranked it 84th among "America's 100 Best Classical Courses" in 1997, 73rd in 1998 and 62nd in 1999.

A caddies take on Sankaty Head Golf course in 1946, Jun 15, 2006 |

| In 1946 my parents sent myself and my two triplet brothers to Nantucket Island to caddy at the Sankety Head golf course from June until late August. We were with a group of young boys mostly from Massachusetts. We were with a group from the Worcester YMCA. We lived in tents which were set up along side the 2nd hole. We always caddied doubles. I never knew a thing about golf until I arrived at Sankaty Head. I was lucky enough to win the caddy tournament while being there. I have since had three holes in one which I give credit to my parents for sending my brothers and to Sankaty Head to caddy and learn the game of golf. Now at the age of 75 I still play four rounds of golf weekly each winter in Florida and once or twice a week in the summer here in Massachusetts. Hopefully I will return soon to the course which started me playing this great game of golf. |

| One of the best old time links courses out there, on one of the most beautiful locations. The course is always in good condition, and the guys in the pro shop are the best (caddies too). As for the Nicklaus impersonator on the site, don't believe his post. The club is low key and friendly. As for his assumptions, most of the members are not from New England, and certainly very few of the staff members. |

| Sankaty is a amazing golf experience. From the windy conditions to the conditions of the course, throw in some of the remarkable views and the neat caddie program and it is a must play for any golfer regardless of skill or age. Having played a number of the finer courses in the area I would rate this at the top of the list. |

One of the best in America, Oct 01, 2005 |

| This course is superb in every respect. It is tough and the rough is challenging. The layout is beautiful and there are unbelievable views with every shot. The condition of the course is excellent, the staff is helpful, friendly and cooperative, and the professional, Mark Heartfield, is a professional in every sense of the word. The review by the so-called Jack Nicklas on this site is highly suspect since he could only have played in August as a guest, and a guest would hardly have written what this impostor says. While non-members can only play between late October and mid-May, anyone who has the opportunity to play this outstanding course must take advantage of it. |

Worst Treatment Ever, Aug 08, 2005 |

| This was by far the worst golfing experience of my 45 year golfing career. The staff and members reek of New England snobbery. This was the most upsetting and unpleasent round I've ever played. They made me feel feel like I was common riff-raff and that I was not welcome. I was treated like a King at Augusta National an snubbed here. They need to learn how to treat people with dignity and respect. |

| One of the best links courses in USA. Comparable to Long Island U.S. Open courses. True test for amateur and pro. Fair in every way. Wind is the great equalizer. Unfortunately private. Beg an invite. |
