This club has a regulation eighteen hole course and a nine hole par 3 course. The Long Course is in great condition and features extremely fast greens. "Golf Digest" rated this as the 4th "Best in State" course for 1995-96. This course was built on fairly flat terrain, and water hazards come into play on at least three holes. Some holes were carved out of a forest, so expect trees that can alter your shots. An annual Pro Am Tournament is held every August on the Long Course. The Short Nine Course is a par 3 course. This flat course has a few elevated greens and tee boxes. A river comes into play on three holes, plus out-of-bounds stakes line several other holes. Dick Nugent and Don Sechrest have done renovations on these courses.

Marshallia Ranch Golf Course
"Marshallia Rocks"
This is one tough but, neat course. Carved out of the hills surrounding Vandenberg AFB, the layout is challenging and scenic. Play in the fall and winter for the best weather, because spring and summer can be very cool and windy. Each hole rewards a decent shot, but plucks out your heart if your shot runs errant. Ice plant gives a new meaning to the word, rough. Here's a putting tip, 90% of the putts break toward the high hills to the south, though you will swear it can't be. The course is usually in terrific condition and the Clubhouse very accomodating. Green fees, equipment and food are more than reasonable when compared to nearby courses. This is one gem all golfers must experience.

St. Clair Shores Country Club
"Great Shape - Slow Play"
I've been playing St. Clair Shores Country Club since 1983. Over the years the quality of the course, ie: fairways, greens and overall layout of the course had improved greatly. It's a fine course to play for all levels. The better golfer may find it a bit short. Most par 4's are in the low to mid 300's. The course is mainly flat, but offers many different obsticles. Plenty of sand makes up for the flat layout. Water also poses problems on several holes. Hole #14, a mid range par three, requires a full carry over water. The main problem with St. Clair Shores Country Club is the SLOW PLAY. The course rangers, while very nice, do not do their job properly. In fact, over the past 20 years, they've gotten progresively worse. So don't expect any help if your stuck behind a group that take's more time than normal. Remeber, it's not a race. At least that's what I tell myself each time I go out to St. Clair Shores Country Club. Needless to say, it gets a bit frustrating at times. In conclusion, the course is maintained quite well. If you can get out on a weekday morning that would be the best time to enjoy your round. The rates are about mid $40's for 18 holes and a cart.

Rob Roy Golf Course
"Good greens"
The corse isn't extreamly long, but can pose a challenge from the back tees, especially for the mid-long hitters. It is well manicured, and the greens have a smooth, consistant roll.
