Best kept secret in Northern CA, Mar 15, 2004

This course is a great challenge for any level of player. Due to a small membership it gets very little play which is one reason the course is always in great shape. Golfer beware of the tight fairways lined with old cypress trees and small but challenging greens. Even for the lowest handicap golfer, getting up and down around Cal's greens is not a easy task. It was built in the early 1900's with great courses like Olympic, Merced and San Francisco. It is a true golf club and not many golfers know about. A memborable experience from start to finish for sure.

"WOW, WHAT A COURSE!!!!!!!"
I have never putted on such undulating greens in my life, this course gave me fits.... I had never played here so I didnt know what I was in for, really tough course if your not familiar with it.... I crushed a drive on one hole, dont rememeber which one but I thought I hit at least a 300yd drive, well I did but it landed in a pond on the other side of a sloping fairway. Never knew the the water was there.... you cant see it from the tee box... (very sneaky). just one of the great holes on this gem....if you want some putting practice, then this your course.... go for it....

Rio Colorado Golf Course

Gary Player design company did a fine job with this golf course, from beginner to pro this course has plenty to offer, watch out when the wind is up, with five par fives and many good risk reward holes this course can offer a lot of birdies, but lookout for the par threes, they are tougher than they look. Scenic Colorado river views on the back side, great bird watching, eagles, hawks, etc, also a gator or two or three.

This course is an exceptional test of golf and a truly pastoral experience. The elevated tees provide scenic vistas and wonderful backdrops. The clubhouse, restaurant and staff are first class and lend an air of pleasure to the overall day. Golfers who are looking for the complete golf experience at affordable prices should check this one out!
