This breathtaking course has a wonderful view of the Bass River. The fairways are narrow, and the greens are small. There are water hazards that come into play on eleven holes. The signature hole is #6, a 169-yard, par 3, which plays across Bass River.

Great course, even in the winter, Jan 01, 2007

I have played this course many times, most recently 12-31. Bass River is the second Yarmouth town course but plays as well as any other public course. The distance is a little shorter than big hitters would prefer, allowing you to leave the driver in the bag on many holes. Fairways and greens are in great shape, even in the middle of a mild winter. Yardage markers are accurate and the staff is excellent.

Nicely maintained, well conditioned course. A little short from the whites, and perhaps a little long from the championship tees for the average golfer. Water comes into play on many holes, as does out of bounds. Greens are medium sized and fairly flat, but several have devilish breaks. Holes seven and eight can make or break your round, and when playing into the wind, the eighteenth is as tough a finishing hole as there is in the area. There has been talk about going private for several years, but it appears as if it will happen sometime in 2004, so if you have the opportunity to play, do it soon!!

Cabin Brook Golf Course
"Canbin Brook is a fair golf course"
I have playd Cabin Brook many times growing up in the central Kentucky region. The fairways are wide enough for most beginners and the terrain only comes into play on a couple of holes. With the rolling hills, it is a good place to learn how to adjust your shots in your stance. The price, sometimes, can be a bit much but, it is worth it for the casual duffer.

Miacomet Golf Club
"The food buzz"
The word is out and Miacomet will no longer be the "best kept secret" on the Island. I got a sneak peek at the course and played the new 9 in the fall, and enjoyed the layout of the grounds, but the real jewel here is the restaurant. I wouldn't have guessed from the outside or even the inside atmosphere, but I had the best calamari I've had on the island and was so intrigued with the dinner menu that I returned that night. My husband and I had a very elegant dinner at an affordable price; he was so pleased with his grilled sirloin and vegetables and I raved about my pecan-crusted salmon for the rest of the week. I can't wait to play the course again in the spring, and my husband and I really look forward to our next night out dining at the Club. Compliments to the chef, Ernest Taukus, and the rest of the Miacomet staff.
