This championship course has water hazards (seven lakes and a creek) that come into play on four holes. Some blind shots are inevitable while playing on the course, so it wouldn't hurt to check your scorecard before playing each hole. The Nike Tour's Miami Valley Open has been hosted here annually since 1993.

nice course, but that superintendent is crazy!, May 15, 2011
reviewer: Danny Sexton from Cincy, Ohio
I went to play, but the superintendent didn't let me. He said the course was under maintenence, but there were poeple in line in front of me and behind me that he let play. I talked to him about it in his office and he said it was cause I'm black! that was a waste of time!

Walking Fees, Jun 26, 2006
reviewer: John Burkhardt from Troy, OH
I've played Heatherwood several times and have always enjoyed it. The course is well maintained, it presents a great challenge to do well, and the staff is always very courteous. I do, however take offense at the pricing for walkers. I played there on Saturday 24 June. The course had received quite a bit of rain and the cart rule was "Cart Path Only", and with very good reason. It was wet. The green fees were $59 with cart. I walked but was charged the same fee, no ifs, ands, or buts. I was penalized for not wanting to ride around on an asphalt path all day long, have to sometimes walk to the other side of the fairway, carry extra clubs, and than walk back. That's a poor way to play golf. I like playing the golf course, but until the policy pertaining to fees of walkers versus riders is changed, I'll think twice before going back.

Heatherwood - Challenge and Variety, Jun 03, 2005
reviewer: Greg F. from Mason, OH USA
I've played the course several times, and it has always been very well maintained with relatively quick greens that roll very well. There is a lot of variety in the holes requiring most of the clubs in the bag to be used. There is a fair amount of water that comes into play on several holes requiring accurate tee and approach shots. Houses are a little close on a few holes, and this issue appears to be getting worse with new construction, but the fact that it is limited to only a few holes makes it bearable. Staff has always been very courteous and accomodating.

Straighten up and fly right!, Mar 11, 2004
reviewer: Andrew Tully from Dayton, OH
Heatherwood is a well kept course, but mid-spring to late fall hit the ball straight. With a thick rough and some well positioned watering holes, the course can claim balls and strokes in a hurry. Some holes (par 3's mainly) resemble an xtreme mogul course for you skiers out there. So don't hit it short. Overall, Heaterwood is a fun course with a little attitude.
