This course is good for the beginning golfer. There is water that comes into play on seven holes, including #5, a 515-yard, par 5, which has three separate creeks running through the fairway. The fairways are tree lined, but the course is not too difficult. There are additional sets of men's tees that can be used when playing an eighteen hole round.

Giles Country Club
"Nice course for budget"
I think the golf course is in outstanding shape. The grass is green,pretty good for this time of year! The superintendant is a nice guy. His employee is a nice guy. They get the job done! The employees at the clubhouse are hardworkers too. The only backfall I see is, they need more members. Somebody told me they have lossed alot of members. Hopefully they will try to recruit some members this year. If anybody reads this come on over to the country club its an outstanding place to golf,associate, play cards,and have a good time with friends and family. And need to open the ballroom for some events, make a little cash! Everbody is easy to get along with. Giles Country Club does pretty good for the budget they have.

"Classic Donald Ross"
This course is short in yardage (6200), but plays much longer. One reason is that there are only 2 par 5's on a par 70 track. The par 3's are classic Ross. 3 of the 4 can play over 190 yards to postage stamp greens. There are a lot of down and up style par 4's, but there is also variety. Holes 10,11 and 18 are good examples of tough, well thought out par 4's that demand accuracy and thought. A four is an excellent score on all of these holes. The course is generally in excellent condition and has undergone some minor renovations. You will notice that the greens are exceptionally small, even for a Ross course. Greens are properly protected with bunkers and have just the right amount of undulation. One designer has stated that these are the smallest greens he has ever seen on a Ross course (which may be its claim of distinction among the many Ross courses). There is a premium on iron play and short game. Greens are quick, but not penal. Everyone thinks they can bring this course to its knees, but it usually is the other way around. The course can frustrate you if you expect too much too easily. This is what makes it such a wonderful place to experience the brilliance of Donald Ross. Cedar Creek Golf Club
"A course of challenge and beauty"
If you are looking for a track that will provide you the challenges of all the natural elements of the game of golf, Cedar Creek will do that. With it's bunkers, woods, length, rolling greens, water hazzards and blind shots. I have played this course at least a dozen times and I cannot a remember a time where I felt like I was being pushed by a group behind me or that I had to push a group ahead of me. It is easy to get frustrated with the challenge of the course, but you can maintain a good rhythem because of the pace of play. This track is also affordable. I have played many of the courses in Aiken County including the private courses and I haven't found any difference in the quality of this course compared to the private clubs. The staff are also very friendly.

Mad Russian Golf & Country Club, The
"Great course for the money"
This course is always fun and challenging to play. The greens in the winter are somewhat bet up but the summer is an excellent time to play. There rates are very reasonable and we enjoy the course very much. The people are always nice and helpful there.
