Getting to this course is half the fun. Hop on the Staten Island Ferry from Lower Manhattan and check out the Statue of Liberty en route, or cruise over the Verrazano Narrows Bridge from Brooklyn. This design includes open, rolling fairways, bunkered greens and countless trees. The elevated tee on hole #14, a 354-yard, par 4, offers a sweeping view of the course and the clubhouse, which is an 1836 Greek Revival building. This course hosts the annual New York City Amateur tournament and is the only eighteen hole course in town with a driving range. John Van Kleek designed nine new holes and redesigned the others in 1935, and Frank Duane remodeled four holes in 1964.

More crowded than Grand Central Station..., Jun 09, 2004 |

| More crowded than Grand Central Station during rush hour is the only way to describe this course. It's even crowded on weekdays at twi-light time. The layout is fantastic, but the condition isn't always the best thanks to the lack of TLC American Golf gives it. Expect to have folks hit up on you and not apologize. |
