Nice Tight Course - Very Friendly, Jul 22, 2004

This is a nice tight course with great tees for the first and tenth. There are a few rough patches on the first nine, but they are working on them. The second nine is prettier and not quite so tight. Overall, this is a terrific little course, with a very friendly club couse and nice facilities.

The back 9 is nicer than the front, as it has some water on it. Not too narrow, the greens need some work as the ball bounces alot...but it is early in the year. All in all, it should be cheaper to play or in better condition... but I'll probably play it again. :~(

"Great Value; Conditions"
This course is great for the price. The greens keeper has done an excellent job. He keeps the greens fast, the fairways immaculate, and the rough is even starting to affect play. This course has a great layout. If your in the area this is the best course to play.

Lakeland Hills Golf Course
"Getting better every day"
Lakeland is a great course for the money. New owners took over is 2002 or so. Hard to remember because we don't play it regularly. They have added new features every year, trees, bridges, new tee boxes, etc.The front nine is fairly open, hard to get into too much trouble. Watch out for some water. We prefer the back nine. It's a little more hilly, still has some water. Nothing to worry about. Lakeland has the best drainage of any course we have ever seen. It is open unless there is snow on the ground. We have played this course in Feb., when a winter thaw and 50 degree days suprized us all. Just played in on Jan 3, 2004 when we has another winter warm spell. Jackson has lots and lots of great courses. No one would ever be disappointed taking a golfing holiday in Jackson, Michigan.

Crag Burn Golf Club
"A Masterpiece"
One of the best golf courses in the country. Very well balanced holes. equal amounts of doglegs left and right. Lengths vary so that almost every club in the bag is used. The rough is three feet tall if you miss the fairways. Very tough but very fair. Just simply one of the best in the USA.

Occoneechee Golf Club
"Golf at a value"
Occ. golf course is a nice course if you are looking for value in a round of golf. The course is always in good condition, the staff is pleasant and the course is enjoyable, yet not easy, if you play it from the blue tees. The course is adequately and accurately marked with yardage to the greens. The front and back nine are very different and thus give some variety to the round. It is no Pinehurst, but those that play there love their golf and know proper golf etiquette. It is a real value for the dollar.
