This facility opened a second eighteen hole course in 1999, the River Course, to give it thirty-six holes. The River Course is links in design, with considerably more water affecting play than the original Island Course. The signature hole is #12, a 344-yard, par 4, which has water that runs down the entire left side of the dogleg left fairway. A bunker guards the right side of the fairway. Golfers have the option of using a driver to carry the bunker, or an iron to lay up short. The front nine on the Island Course is a links-style design and the back nine is traditional in design. The course has greens and tree-lined fairways. "Golf Digest" rated this as the 5th "Best In State" course for 1995-96, and the 7th best for 1997-98. Guests must be accompanied by a member in order to play the course.

| i've been thinking for many years and i think lowes island should be a private course but should still allow people to come and play at it like once a month. becuase thats an easier way to get more members and when theirs more members we get more money. Plus allot of people love this course but have never played here, they should get a chance to play their atleast once! |
