This well-manicured course has difficult greens to read. The fairways are narrower on the back nine than on the front nine. Water hazards come into play on a four holes, plus out-of-bounds stakes line several of the fairways. In addition, numerous sand bunkers guard both the fairways and greens. A very nice course that offers a challange to all skill levels. It is also a very pretty course. The tees, fairways an greens are well maintained. A good value as grees fees are in the $40 range. We found it a fun course to play, and would play it again.

The golf course is great. For the climate there it really comes back in summertime. My only complaint is the group we followed, they were very tall, drank beer like shiprecked seamen, and generally clogged up the golf course. The biggest one was called BUZZ.

Marshallia Ranch Golf Course
"Marshallia Rocks"
This is one tough but, neat course. Carved out of the hills surrounding Vandenberg AFB, the layout is challenging and scenic. Play in the fall and winter for the best weather, because spring and summer can be very cool and windy. Each hole rewards a decent shot, but plucks out your heart if your shot runs errant. Ice plant gives a new meaning to the word, rough. Here's a putting tip, 90% of the putts break toward the high hills to the south, though you will swear it can't be. The course is usually in terrific condition and the Clubhouse very accomodating. Green fees, equipment and food are more than reasonable when compared to nearby courses. This is one gem all golfers must experience.

VERY NICE COURSE FOR THE $$.THE GREENS ARE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION.SOME FAIRWAYS ARE TIGHT AND TREE LINED.THE COURSE IS MORE DIFFICULT THAN THE RATING OF 113(MORE LIKE A 125 TO 127 FROM THE BACK TEES).IT CAN USE A FEW MORE SAND TRAPS,BUT THERE ARE ENOUGH TREES AND WATER TO KEEP YOU HONEST.

Chapel Hill Country Club
"HARD TO GET ON - GREAT TO PLAY"
Course is a traditional style designed by Gene Hamm and renovated by John LaFoy in 1999. This is the only private course in Chapel Hill. Walking is encouraged and it is a great way to experience the course. Signature hole IS NOT # 14. It's # 10 which can require carry over water twice. Pin on this hole makes 3 to 4 clubs difference on second shot. It's a beauty! Only one hole without bunkers - the par 3 9th is about 175 uphill from middle tees. Out of bounds on many of the holes as the fairways rise and fall through a very established traditional and exclusive neighborhood. Greens are all large (with at least 6 different zones on each one for pin placement)and have many contours. Three putts are common - especially in spring and fall when the bent grass surface is kept very fast. Bring your thinking cap, but also bring your game if your fun comes from scoring well. It's not an easy course, but it's not Jack Nicklaus difficult either.
