This course's design includes, tight fairways, some in dogleg configurations, and large, fast greens with undulation. The course was built on flat terrain, so it's easy to walk. There are water hazards that come into play at least four times. "Golf Digest" rated this course as the 10th "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996. In addition, "Golf Digest" rated this course 52nd best out of "America's Top 75 Affordable Courses" from their list of "America's Best Golf Courses Everyone Can Play" for 1996. They also ranked it 22nd among the "Top 75 Public Courses" for 1990.

Spook Rock is a wonderful lay out. Course was in great shape greens were perfect. I did find it very difficult to get a tee time, they have a lottery every week. Staff was not really all that helpful. Round took over 5 hours but that is to be expected at a public golf course. Halfway house was good. Never saw a beverage cart. Would rate Golf Course 4 Stars.

This a great private golf course, with new TifSport fairways, TifEagle greens and new bunkering, all put in during the summer of 2002. Pete Dye's course is better than ever. The new gold (back) tees now play 6,616 yards with a 72.0/131 course and slope rating. This par 71 course is made up of narrow fairways, many tree-lined. Four par 4s exceed 400 yards with number 6 playing 442 yards and number 13 reaching 437 yards; tough holes by every standard. If you can find a member or locate a friend of a member, by all means make it a point to play this great South Florida golf course.

A course perhaps more friendly for the long-ball hitter with more than enough water and some deviously placed sand. Access to the course requires a military affiliation or a friend who can host your play but, well worth the trip. Given its location (on base), play is seldom hampered by a crowded course which also makes it a most hospitable course for the slower player, the short ball hitter or those just learning the game. The placement of water (ponds and streams) makes for an interesting attack plan and invites disaster for the reckless. Improved traps, general landscaping and more attention to tee boxes and greens over the past two seasons has made the course much more enjoyable. The first six holes are a low rolling layout with a lot of trees in play along the fairways. The rest of the course is basically flat with several holes playing parallel to the runway and an occasional aircraft take-off or landing adding to the view. Course amenities are well maintained. Walk, pull a cart or ride in a relatively new electric cart. The golf carts are in great shape and an adjacent driving range is a plus for tuning up before hitting off of the first tee. The clubhouse has a small grill for lunch with a comfortable seating area for a beer after the game. The pro shop is equipped to handle most needs.
