This flat course is easy to walk. The fairways are tree lined, and the greens are slightly sloped. Water hazards (lakes) come into play on five holes. Robert Muir Graves designed the back nine, which was added in 1964.

I just moved to San Jose from Ft Belvoir, VA after 18 months deployed to Afghanistan working for the US Army Corps Engineers- Afghanistan District. I normally played at Travis AFB but it is too far from where I reside now. Does this golf course allow Army Civilian to reserve a Tee-Time or is just for active military only? Much appreciated for a response if anyone knows the rules and policies of this golf course. Thanks

I completely agree with Mike from Santa Clara, the more one plays here the better they get. Moffett is a very decieving course. It looks easy but after the first few holes, one realises that there is more to this place than there seems. The squirrels can be a little bothersom, especially their holes on and off of the fairways. In my opinion, playing in the morning is the best just purely based on the fact that in the afternoon, the wind picks up a lot. Bang for buck this is the place to be.

Moffett is an interesting course. There is definitely a home course advantage. The more you play the easier it gets. There are some long holes if you play from the back and water comes into play on a couple holes. If you have good driving accuracy the course can be scored on, however some tee shots are tricky. A couple of the par threes also push 200+ yards. There are a couple of new holes in the back, watch out for the new greens, they are very hard and almost impossible to stop a low shot on. Try to play in the mornings on Fridays or weekends, it gets very slow in the afternoons.

I once belonged to a local golf club that played Moffett once a year. We had 3-4 handicap golfers who said this was one of the hardest courses they had played. It may look easy but it can get you in a lot of bogey troubles. This course is mainly for a golfer who draws the ball. Lots of right to left shots.
