Tannehill National Golf Course
"4 stars"
Tannehill National has got to be one of the best courses in the state. The fairways this past summer looked better than a lot of greens I've seen. From the back tees the course is near perfect. It is pretty much wide open but, there is a creek that comes into play on several holes and the strategically placed ponds can make you pay for a bad tee shot. The greens are fast but they hold shots and roll true .You just can't find bermuda greens that stay as consistent as theirs do.

Gibson Woods Golf Course
"Great public course"
Gibson Woods is a challenging public golf course in Monmouth, IL. It is a mature course that challenges the golfer to play the fairway on most holes. The course features lots of trees, some water, and some elevated greens. The course favors the accurate golfer more than the long ball hitter. Although an accurate long ball hitter will consistently score well here. The course is very well maintained, has a driving range, and is generally only crowded on weekends.

Buncombe County Municipal Golf Course
"Playable in a pinch"
This is a nice short Donald Ross course that is inexpensive. The front nine is generally uninspired, although I like the 8th hole, a 150 yard par 3 with an elevated green. The back nine is more interesting as it features more vertical terrain. The course is fairly well maintained, and the clubhouse is very nice.
