This tight course has undulating mounds that can cause uneven lies. Water comes into play on four holes, including hole #4, a 142-yard, par 3, which plays across a body of water to a well-bunkered green. A redesign of nine holes was completed by Greg Nash and Jeff Hardin in 1989.

Worst Greens EVER!, Mar 08, 2011 |
| reviewer: Tom
from Glendale, AZ |
| Played yesterday, 3-7-2011. Booked my tee time online for an 8am shotgun start. At my first tee, the guys I was paired up with asked if I'd ever played here before. I said I had, (last Fall) and the first thing they asked was why I had come back. ??? Anyway, once on the "green", I realized why. The greens were completely dormant except for a few little tufts of grass that only made them bumpy. The fairways had been overseeded, but not the greens. My playing partners said it was an attempt to prevent frost delays. Are you kidding me?? Absolutely pathetic! By far the worst I have EVER seen. I played a golf course in Colorado at the end of January that was totally dormant (at least I knew ahead of time) and the greens were MUCH better that at "Great" Eagle. I find it mind boggling that management would even consider this here in AZ where so much of their annual golfing revenue is generated during the Winter and Spring. The dismal condition of the greens contributed to a round which lasted just over 5 hours, ridiculous for a course which plays at around 6000 yds. My advice would be to AVOID GREAT EAGLE. Arizona Traditions golf club next door, though in much better shape, is owned by the same family so avoid them too. Just my opinion. Spend 10 extra bucks and play a decent course. There are scores of them here. |

Golfed Great Eagle Feb17/2011, Feb 17, 2011 |

| An absolute waste of time and money. No one seems to care about the condition of the course. The Tee boxes and fairways are significantly below average for the price. However the greens are even worse as there was no overseeding for the winter and the bermuda grass is dead and bare expcept for the odd tuff of fescue that makes putting impossible. The greens have a good design but without grass are impossible to play. Like putting on your table top with pieces of junk scattered all over. The practice facility is a disgrace and should have been a clue as to what we would find on the course. Will never go back until managment takes some accountabilty to improve playability. Do not book. |

| We had four players for a morning "T" time. We teed off from #1 and it started to rain in buckets with a strong wind. We waited and it did not stop raining. We were already very wet. We went back to the club house and they refused to issue a rain check for another day or refund our money. Have never seen this type behaveour from any other golf course. We will never play this course again. Bad attitude in the pro shop. |

Worst Golf Course for Customer Service, Feb 24, 2010 |

| We won't be golfing at Great Eagle Golf Course anymore. We were just about to tee off on the first hole when the rain came in buckets. We turned around soaking wet and went back to the pro shop. They would not give us a rain check nor our money back. We were disgusted with their attitude and failure to accommodate us in any way. This is the worst golf course for customer service we have ever seen. Don't golf there!! They need to learn how to treat people properly. |

Best kept secret??? haha ya right!, Jun 28, 2008 |

| First off the driving range is about 180 yards long,...they didn't keep the grass there short enough, it was like i was practicing in the rough all morning. The course is way way way tooooo short! I was hitting 3 wood off most tees and was drving it over the green. Greens were very very bad! Brown and mud spots all over,...not to mention the inaccurate reads. who's heard of a 450 yd par 5????? not me! No cart paths except at the tee boxes. and about 4000 trailers everywhere and in very very close proximity. Over priced, such a horrible course I'm never ever going back. You can play at very very nice courses such as Estrella Mountain Ranch or Wigwam and on the Air Force base for 10 bucks more and enjoy a very very very nice course! forget the great eagle, more like the bad eagle! |

Fantastic Course, Jul 21, 2004 |

| A challenging course that plays fantastic if you can keep your balls in the fairway. You can still scramble to make par with a wayward drive but you better have your short game with you. You only need your driver on a couple of holes here. If you play 'smart golf' off the tees you can be hitting 7 and 8 irons into every green. If you want to take your chances with a driver, which could only leave you with a short wedge to the green, you better make sure you put it in the fairway off the tee. This is a fantastic course to play. Shooting a low score here is totally possible for most golfers. There are plenty of birdies to be had with a good drive. |

Unreal Value, Feb 17, 2004 |

| The course itself is very nice looking and very challenging. The downside is that it is set inside a big RV/mobile home park. The upside of that is that it is very inexpesive. You would pay three or four times more to play this course in another setting. Great deal |
