This county-owned course was designed with every skill level in mind. The fairways are tree lined, and water comes into play on three holes. Some of the greens are large and have enough slope to test your putting skill. The Coal River flows alongside part of the course and adds to the beautiful scenery. This is one of the four Kanawha County courses.

Negative and out of town "ASSHOLES" , Apr 22, 2011
reviewer: "Earl p" from Downtown Saint.Albans and proud of it!
This is for all the out of towners and others complaining about Big Bend. Find another place or shut your mouths!! The only problem I find are you assholes pretending to be Tiger,Phil,or Jack!! Mostly you are a bunch of high handicappers with your nose stuck up in the air! Do all of us locals a favor and take your business elsewhere! As for the staff at big bend,I would much rather be waited on be someone who appreciates our business than a big feeling wanna be pro that that has his/her nose stuck up where it doesn't belong!

Bad Course, Jan 28, 2011
reviewer: Sam C. from St. Albans, WV
This is just a lousy golf course. It was once nice, mind you, back in the day. But that was before the economy went south and the property tax base took a big hit. Now, the county struggles to maintain the courses they haven't closed, with the budget that's available to them. They do such a poor job that the parks director had to launch a formal investigation into the abuse that the employees here were leveling against players. Who needs that? Not any golfer I know and not the taxpayers, either.

Dont cry, Nov 02, 2010

I have played Big Bend for several years. It isnt the best place to play by far, but it isnt the worst either. Its a good course to play for the ave Joe. But there are always the ones, who are average players at best, who will cry how bad of course it is. This is because they picture themselves even up with Tiger Woods at the turn of the 17th hole, and after they have blamed thier clubs or a bird that flew in front of them as they slice thier ball into the O.B., the only thing left to blame for thier 14 over par score is the course. Please..just MAN UP AND PLAY.

Terrible, Just Terrible, Jul 31, 2010
reviewer: Fontaine Williams from Richmond, VA
I don't understand how anyone could actually like this course. It's very inconvenient to reach. It's probably the most poorly maintained course I've ever seen. The employees and other golfers are rude. There are no amenities. The pricing isn't even attractive. There's absolutely nothing to recommend it. I don't understand how anyone could enjoy playing here.

A golf course for all playing levels. Very tree lined and tight. This course has a few elevation changes and greens that can give a challenge to most players. I really like playing here.

This golf course is just nasty. If the county can't afford to maintain it, they should close it like they have the others. It is a disgrace.

The guy from Maryland who utilizes the $10 dollar words trying to make himself appear educated needs to stay in Maryland and play golf. Sir if you don't like coal, trains or junky cars I can only assume you have never been to the port in Baltimore. I will also say that Big Bend Golf Course has one of the best layouts in the area. The staff is extremely helpful, and the so called loaded up beer golfers are courteous as well. So I say to the visitor from Maryland, the majority of the golfers @ Big Bend are West Virginia Mountaineer fans and we hate Terrapins anyway; STAY HOME TO PLAY GOLF.
