This rolling course has elevated, tiered greens on each hole. The well-protected greens are fast. One of the tougher holes is #5, a 253-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot over natural wetlands and onto a green 100 feet below. The green on this hole is 11,800 square feet. This course has the highest slope rating in the state. The driving range at the club is twenty-three acres in size and there are two practice putting greens. Luck Golf Course
"Luck Golf Course in Luck, Wisconsin"
The Luck Golf Course is a well established, beautiful course with bent grass fairways surrounded by large mature oaks. It is one of the best courses in the area. The course is challaging yet very rewarding for all levels of golfers. Located in the Village of Luck next to beautiful Butternut Lake, it is "in town" but off on its own in a lovely park like setting. Don't be surprised to see deer running accross the fairway during an approach shot. I found it to be the best around, one that you will love to come back to time after time.

"Classic Donald Ross"
This course is short in yardage (6200), but plays much longer. One reason is that there are only 2 par 5's on a par 70 track. The par 3's are classic Ross. 3 of the 4 can play over 190 yards to postage stamp greens. There are a lot of down and up style par 4's, but there is also variety. Holes 10,11 and 18 are good examples of tough, well thought out par 4's that demand accuracy and thought. A four is an excellent score on all of these holes. The course is generally in excellent condition and has undergone some minor renovations. You will notice that the greens are exceptionally small, even for a Ross course. Greens are properly protected with bunkers and have just the right amount of undulation. One designer has stated that these are the smallest greens he has ever seen on a Ross course (which may be its claim of distinction among the many Ross courses). There is a premium on iron play and short game. Greens are quick, but not penal. Everyone thinks they can bring this course to its knees, but it usually is the other way around. The course can frustrate you if you expect too much too easily. This is what makes it such a wonderful place to experience the brilliance of Donald Ross. "My first course"
I grew up playing MCC. The main criticism of the track has always been that you never get a flat lie, which is often enough true, but a weak criticism nonetheless. When typically fast the greens are challenging (hint: everything breaks toward the ocean); on #13, if you don't keep it below the hole, any putt you don't sink will wind up all the way at the bottom. The course favors a longer driver, and offers plenty of challenge and opportunity for creativity. And you can't beat the view of the Pacific.
