great course for teaching kids., Jul 31, 2007

I took my 11 year old son here and the course was just right for him. It is nothing more then a place to practice short irons for a serious golfer. For around $10, its a better alternative to the Golf Farm where I used to take my son. I dont know how busy it gets, but it seems that pace of play could get real slow as then let you play 18 and have to intermix with people starting their second nine. Several of the greens were well scarred.

It's a 9 hole course, folkes, and a par 3 at that. It is what it is. Don't expect to be blown away and you won't be dissapointed. Great for iron work; its in decent shape, though not well maintained. Crossing the street to get to three of the holes is a tad annoying. That said, it's reasonably priced, and you can play the 9 hole course twice (great for reinforcing practice strokes) for far less than most 18-hole courses.

"west texas' best course"
A challenge for beginners, yet not so that you cant shoot par. Hole5 is the #1 handicap on the course, a challenging par 4 that will require a 260+ yard drive down the fairway then you might use anwhere from a 5 wood down to a 4 iron and get it on the green and putt for birdie, that would be the best why to play it my opinion. If you play here the greens are fast and the rough is medium, there alot of trees onthe front 9 but nothing a intermidate to a master golfer couldnt handle. So if your an ameture this the best course to play in west texas.

Chalet Hills Golf Club
"Challenging but Fair"
If you play the course right you will have to use every club in your bag. Variety of holes, no two are alike. Trees, bunkers, water, doglegs and hills, this course has it all. Beginners with a wild driver will have some trouble but will not have to hit over obstacles except for two greens surrounded by water. Staff is great and course is getting in better shape each year.

North Park Golf Course
"Great Public Course"
You must take into consideration this is a course run and maintained by County government so it's maintenance is not what it should be. Aside from that it is a great course. It is long, very challenging, fairly wide open and hilly. It's also a very pretty course. You would be hard pressed to find any course in a comparable price range that is this nice with such a beautiful layout. This course gets a lot of play during the week from senior citizens ( they get yearly permits ) but on Friday thru Sunday it is not crowded.
