Meadow Woods Golf Club
"Meadow Woods"
Meadow Woods is a nice course, althought not the best I have ever played on. The fairways are narrow due to the fact that it is located in a small neighborhood. The Par 4 13th should be pretty much played as a par 5 unless you can hit the long ball really well, or like to loose some balls. The fairways were also pretty dry as was the rest of the course. Fast greens make even the easy puts challenging.

"Classic Donald Ross"
This course is short in yardage (6200), but plays much longer. One reason is that there are only 2 par 5's on a par 70 track. The par 3's are classic Ross. 3 of the 4 can play over 190 yards to postage stamp greens. There are a lot of down and up style par 4's, but there is also variety. Holes 10,11 and 18 are good examples of tough, well thought out par 4's that demand accuracy and thought. A four is an excellent score on all of these holes. The course is generally in excellent condition and has undergone some minor renovations. You will notice that the greens are exceptionally small, even for a Ross course. Greens are properly protected with bunkers and have just the right amount of undulation. One designer has stated that these are the smallest greens he has ever seen on a Ross course (which may be its claim of distinction among the many Ross courses). There is a premium on iron play and short game. Greens are quick, but not penal. Everyone thinks they can bring this course to its knees, but it usually is the other way around. The course can frustrate you if you expect too much too easily. This is what makes it such a wonderful place to experience the brilliance of Donald Ross. a very green and tree filled course....in great shape...fun to play....not too hard, but challenging nonetheless....beautiful views of clubhouse on 9th and 18th....a bit short, but if played from the back tees is long enough for most big hitters

Champion Hills Golf Club
"Champion Hills - great place to play or to live"
The course is spectacular, both in scenery and in the variety of play that can be had -- from novice to expert. Tom Fasio did a great job, using natural elements beautifully. Watch out for the 4" rough! It is lush and can eat your balls so magically that they can NOT be found. Course management is excellent. Hazards are well maintained as are the fairways and greens. Most of the T-boxes are elevated and the views in the valleys include small waterfalls, hardwoods, mountain laurel and rhododendron covered hills with mountain vistas all around. The clubhouse offers wonderful sunsets and terrific food. Excellent additional amenities like a health club, tennis, practice areas. VERY nice bungalos for lease, nearby B&B, charming small town. Close to Asheville, Biltmore House, Grandfather Mountain, Greenville/Spartanburg airport, Appalachian Trail... We really love this area and this particular course.
