This course was built on rolling terrain, so expect some uneven lies in the fairly narrow and tree-lined fairways. Water hazards come into play on many holes. The signature hole is #4, a 388-yard, par 4, requiring a long tee shot up a dogleg right fairway in order to set up a clear approach shot to the green.

This course is much more challenging than it's par of 68 would leave one to believe. Many tee shots must be well positioned to have any chance at a shot to the green. If you have not played this course in the last 5 years, you should give it another chance. Many improvements in playability and astetics have been made in the last 5 years.

Robbinhurst starts off with a challenging par 4 that goes around the driving range. Don't slice, or you will be OB ... Not a good way to start a round! The back doesn't start any easier with a dogleg left that can eat you up if you are too long. Water and woods are left and long, keep it in the fairway. You don't need to be a long hitter to score well on this par 68 course, just a straight hitter.

St. Clair Shores Country Club
"Great Shape - Slow Play"
I've been playing St. Clair Shores Country Club since 1983. Over the years the quality of the course, ie: fairways, greens and overall layout of the course had improved greatly. It's a fine course to play for all levels. The better golfer may find it a bit short. Most par 4's are in the low to mid 300's. The course is mainly flat, but offers many different obsticles. Plenty of sand makes up for the flat layout. Water also poses problems on several holes. Hole #14, a mid range par three, requires a full carry over water. The main problem with St. Clair Shores Country Club is the SLOW PLAY. The course rangers, while very nice, do not do their job properly. In fact, over the past 20 years, they've gotten progresively worse. So don't expect any help if your stuck behind a group that take's more time than normal. Remeber, it's not a race. At least that's what I tell myself each time I go out to St. Clair Shores Country Club. Needless to say, it gets a bit frustrating at times. In conclusion, the course is maintained quite well. If you can get out on a weekday morning that would be the best time to enjoy your round. The rates are about mid $40's for 18 holes and a cart.

White Hawk Country Club
"Better than others around"
I have golfed at White Hawk for the past three summers and have found it to be a challenging three courses. With black being the hardest it is to the difficult level of a 5-10 handicap player. On average I should in the high 70's and find some days more challenging then others depending on pin placement. But if you are a golf with great accuracy then this course will be almost no match for you. For if you are able to stay in the farways even par is something insight. The course itself is taken care of very nicely and almost all of the employees are friendly. Overall it is my favorite course in the area.
