Osiris Review March 2012, Mar 24, 2012
reviewer: Scott from Montgomery, NY
The course has not been reviewed since 2006 and many things have happened since then. First the club is now a semi private club open to the public for playing. Last year was the first year it was open for outside play and it was very successful. The non-members who played the course raved about the conditions, the staff and the restaurant. Green fees are reasonable and I recommend you try to play it this year. The course was in very good condition last year in spite of all the rain during the year. The signature hole is the 15th hole not the 5th. The slope of the course is 135 and the course rating is 71.0 from the back tees, meaning it is not as easy form the back as you might think. The fairways and the greens are a combination of bent, poa anna and rye grasses. Give the course a try in a couple of weeks and you will probably like it.

Truly a great course, Apr 06, 2006
reviewer: Front nine resident from close enough to see but not get hit
I have lived on this course my entire life and have seen many changes some small some large but all good the course has a great layout also the home course of the Valley Central H.S. team in my teen years i was a junior member however after turning 18 as the only golfer in my family the membership was not cost effective for me working a job at less than 10 dollars an hour i still love to walk the course at night and watch the members during the day overall the course is very nice well groomed as to the previous entries Ben IS a great pro and very good teacher and regardless of who the present greens super is im sure jimmy passed his insight to the present super the course seems to get better and better.

John is Obviuosly Clueless, May 05, 2004
reviewer: 25 yr + Osiris Member from Montgomery, NY
I think it's pretty fair to say that.... John, you're an idiot and your ignorant. Your factless remarks show your mentality 2 lines into your review. You're obviously a guest and not a member, or you would know that the signature hole is, and has always been #15, even it was misprinted somewhere. So to call the Pro "pressured and somewhat uptight" is nonsense and to make mention of the greens keeper not being asked to return, in a review, is assnine. But it's nice to know that you, in your vast knowledge, feel that the assistant will do well replacing him. So "John, from the local area", do all the members at Osiris a favor, stay a guest and keep your "knowledge" at home with the golf channel. Whats more ironic is your review was written on March 3rd, 2004, a whole 6 months after the course closed and the Pro was gone. So if you are a member pretending to be "John", please take your uneducated knowledge to another course and let a real member come in. It's the idiots like you, who use factless rumors, to stir the pot without knowing what's going on. So please, educate yourself before making your future "reviews", or just stick to reviewing what you know, which appears to be very little.

SHORT BUT FUN; AN OVERALL GOOD TIME., Mar 13, 2004
reviewer: John from The local area.
The aforementioned signature hole (#5) slopes back to front, not front to back as stated. It is one of the smaller greens and one of the courses three newer (< 10 years old) "sand greens". I'm not sure why it was chosen "signature" as there are much better holes there in dessert of the accolades: #'s 10, 15, and 16 to name a few. The course is generally well maintained (despite the nominal budget) when compared to other local private courses. The back nine is younger, longer, and for some reason always seems in better shape. It provides for some pristine long-range views of the Shawangunk Mountains on a clear day. The back nine can be most appreciated during twilight hours. I'm not sure why it's called a 'country club', as there is no swimming pool or tennis available; just the golf course. The clubhouse/restaurant/bar is neat and clean with a nice selection of food and drink. The meals on occasion are nothing short of gourmet. The wait staff is generally polite though ordinary. Thumbs up for the regular bartender! The pro shop offers a small but excellent array of equipment. The staff there is extremely polite and helpful. The pro (Ben McCoy) comes across as pressured and somewhat uptight at times. He does however have a reputation unsurpassed in the area for his golf instruction techniques. His lessons are said to be worth every cent. Once you get to know him you should find him to be a man of character who is honest with a good sense of humor. The grounds crew does an outstanding job in keeping the place in good playing condition. This seems a surprise in light of the limited number of staff and restrained budget. The crew had been managed by a (mid fifties) third generation Scottish greens keeper by the name of Jim Smart for the past 29 years. He was released from the course over the off-season for reasons rumored to be politically motivated and undeserving. The previous assistant who is well educated and most dedicated will now manage the crew. I feel he will do well. It is rumored that Mr. Smart is still a "free agent". Any course would be fortunate to have an individual with his experience and knowledge base join their staff. In short it can be concluded that the membership definately get their monies worth from this course.
