Best public course in DC, Aug 27, 2004

Despite the shortcomings that you have to expect from a public golf course including ruddy fairways and greens repleat with unrepaired divots, the place is great. Cheap greens fees, rarely crowded, and beautiful spot in the woods of rock creek park. Top of the line as far as public courses go.

The course has really cleaned up nice for the summer. The back nine is challenging as any in the area with a couple of raised greens and some deep sloping par 4's. A good place to meet friendly golfers of all skill levels.

The greens on this course are terrible and the tee boxes and fairways aren't even worth the cheap price, but the relaxing environment is sometimes worth it. The course lies deep in Rock Creek and is beautiful. The staff is helpful and friendly and the back nine is one of the most challenging in the area. Have fun.

Highland Springs Golf Course
"Great couse."
This course is a great example of Ozark Mountain terrain. Flawless greens, oceans of water, and large greenside and fairway bunkers make this golf course a 5 star course. The layout is a bit easier than your traditional 5 star PGA Tour Championship courses. The Nike/Buy.com/whatever its name is this year tour uses this course each year for one of its tournaments and the players always remark on quality maintenance.

A fun and challenging course. Played the course for years and I have never seen it in better shape. The greens are fast but not out of control and the fairways are nicely kept. All in all, great low rates for a real nice course.

"Nice course but difficult to get on........"
This is a great course, provided you can get on it. Always packed, best course in the area by far....I played here once and I am a resident, that shows you how hard it is to get a tee time here, used to be they only wanted non-residents because they pay more to play, (residents get a great discounted rate)...bad management idea there, of course residents complained and alot has changed....if you get the chance to play here by all means do it...you wont regret it...
