This is a classical Donald Ross designed course featuring rolling terrain, elevated greens, bent/rye fairways lined with mature trees, and flowing creeks that form ponds, which can affect your shots. There is only one par 5. This club was originally founded in 1893 and has been listed by the USGA as one of the first 100 clubs established in the U.S. Additionally, "GOLF Magazine" named it to their 1995 list of "The First 100 Clubs in America."

challenging layout with classic bunkers and rolling hills.Very long par fours. excellent condition.You will use every club in the bag.The 1st three holes will set up the test: a 215 yard well bunkered par 3 and two 400 yard +/- par fours with elevated greens and false fronts demanding a carry.Greens that are fast and have subtle breaks. Keep it in the fairway or pay the price of heavy rough.

This is a Donald Ross gem. While not as long as newer clubs, it is challenging, especially when the greens have been freshly cut. Each hole is distinct and pretty much by itself as opposed to some places that either are too crowded or have do many undefined holes. This year, the course is in great shape. In the past there have been some issues with adeqaute irrigation.

"A true hidden jewel"
If you ever get a chance to play this course then do it. It's longer than you think it is and it is a very tough course. The course is kept in excellent shape and the weekday cost to play is very reasonable. The membership cost is also very reasonable for someone who is looking for a moderately priced country club.

North Shore Country Club
"Great Bay Side Holes, and Tough"
Play this in the wind and you'll find your handicap is a little too low. Northshore is a wonderful course with great bay views on the 4 bayside holes. And Don't miss the gator on hole 12, the cormorants on number 3, or all the other birds during the migratory months. In winter the rye overseed makes Northshore one of the best courses in all of South Texas.

Shadow Hawk Golf Club
"Fall Visit"
Shadow Hawk is a beautiful venue. The course is hard to rate in the middle of winter when the trees are not in bloom and leafy. The fairways are open and more than fair. The greens are as challenging as they come. They are filled with undulations that make straight putts rare. The greens roll fair and pretty fast. The clubhouse is very classy and comfortable (in winter, nicer than the course itself). I would hope to play this course again in summer (heat and all) to see the beauty. It was still fun and challenging for this 15 handicap player,

Very challenging course. You cannot rely on your driver for this course. You have to use your whole bag. The biggest mistake people make playing this course is using the driver on every tee. Playing smart and laying up are the keys to a great round
