This course features water hazards coming into play on twelve holes. Even through the fairways are lined with mature trees, they still afford generous landing areas. In addition, the fast greens are undulating and average-sized. The signature hole is #14, a 160-yard, par 3, featuring a waterfront wall in front of the "green" tee, and requiring a tee shot over water to the green.

This course should pay you to play. If the condition of the couse today is any sample of what it will be like the rest of the year, I would advise staying away. It's not cheap for nothing.

Pine Grove Country Club
"a hidden gem"
This course is a great blend of old and new, and calls for skilled shotmaking throughout the round. Originally opened around the turn of the century, the older holes are generally narrow, lined with huge pines, and have small, but accessible greens. The newer holes climb Iron Mountain, (take a cart!) and are defined in large part by elevation changes which require a 2-3 club adjustment. These greens are much larger, but more difficult to read and putt due to the mountain topography. All of the par 5's are reachable for the stronger golfers, but three of them are dog-legs which swallow errant drives...grip it and rip it at your own risk. This is a nice course; we play it every summer and have been made to feel very welcome as visitors. The members built a new club house 3 years ago after vandals burned the old one. Nice locker room, bar, dining area and pro shop. I would rate this course at 3 1/2 stars and with only slightly better maintenance and grooming the rating would go to a 4. You'll be pleasantly surprised if you try this course.

golf course has had new greens put down on 10 of 18 greens.The course Is fun to play it is not to hard. You can have some good food at the turn. Pro shop is VERY GOOD all the best things in golf . it is $30.00 to play on the weekend.

San Jose Country Club
"Delightful Donald Ross Challange"
This private course was designed by Donald Ross to be a resort course in the early twentieth century. It was purchased after World War II by locals and formed into a club known as San Jose Golf and Country Club and has been sucessfully maintained as the private club since. It is the home course to many prominent Jacksonville residents. One must be a member or guest to play. It is a par 72. The greens are all adjacent to the tees, so that it can be walked easily. There are water hazards sprinkled throughout the course, which make it a dangerous layout for errant shots. The moderately fast greens are well maintained Burmuda and are sometimes puzzling with rolling configuration. A mature course--kept in excellent shape year-round.
