Water plays an important role on this course, as there are twelve lakes that affect play on sixteen of the eighteen holes. The fairways are lush, wide, undulating, and well bunkered. High handicappers will relish in the abundance of bail-out areas on the course. The greens are large, typically forty yards in depth, undulating, and very fast. The signature hole is #18, a 451-yard, par 4, featuring a fairway that is guarded on the left by water and bunkers on the right. The second shot must clear a waterfall to reach the green that is well guarded with bunkers and water.

Nothing really special here. Better values all over the RGV, Sep 30, 2008

The listing and reputation of this course had me really intereseted. I played there this year, prior to the hurricane season, and it was adequate. NOthing special here, and notably, there are many much better values around the LRGV. Particularly in the lower valley nearer Harlingen, Brownsville, and the Island. I think that many around the mid-valley area are enthralled by the landscaping, but ironically, this lush landscaping is much more common place in the wetter locals of the RGV - like above.

"TOUGH GREENS"
I live in the neighborhood so, I've played it many times. Very nice course. Be in shape if you're gonna walk it, though, it isn't called Hilltop for nuthin! Competitive rates, great conditon. These greens are TUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUFF. They're fun though, as is the whole course. Lotta trees lining the fairways, so you gotta keep it straight. Not a lot of water comes into play, just a few holes.

Newnan Country Club
"Tough Layout"
Beautiful layout with a lot of elevation changes and fast, undulating greens. The course also winds through a lot of trees, mostly pines and oaks. First six holes are a real challenge. If you can survive these opening holes with a score that's just a few strokes over par, you may be able to recover by the end. The 15th hole is a monster from back tees, measuring almost 650 yards. Overall, bring every club in your bag.

Tamahka Trails
"Weekend Excursion"
It's the offseason now and we've just returned from 27 holes at Tamahka Trails. The rate was very reasonable, service second to none and the course ... well this old cajun boy has never played a finer course in his life and may never still. The people made us feel as though we never left our home town. They treat you with kindness and respect, catering to your every whim. Let me tell you it was one of the very best golf outings I've ever had (and plan to have again). If you would like to experience golf as it should be ... try Tamahka Trails. You won't be disappointed. And by the way ... for a course this nice the seasonal rates are good also. See you there ...

"Pleasantly surprised"
Yes, I played tippy twice last summer, I was impressed the greens are well manicured, as are the fairways, the rough, although nearly nonexistent is playable. The fairways are hilly and narrow. Overall, it was a nice playing course for your average golfer. P.S the food in the clubhouse is excellent, try the bunger burger.
