This course features a unique combination of nines. The front nine is a Scottish-style links design with no trees and a large amount of water in play, and the back nine was built on rolling terrain and features tree-lined fairways. The greens are severely undulating and water comes into play on seven of the eighteen holes. The signature hole is #16, a 423-yard, par 4. Golfers must hit uphill on the fairway into a predominant southwest wind. Then they must avoid four sand bunkers and a water hazard en route to the green. The approach shot requires golfers to shoot over the ravine in order to get to the green.

This is a great course especially for the price. This course offers a wide variety of challenges. The front nine is wide open and long, with water to contend with on many of the holes. The back nine is more challenging. These holes have trees, water, bunkers, and ravines to contend with. Overall this course is just fun to play.

Tierra del Sol Golf Club
"Played Tierra del Sol many times"
Tierra del Sol is an excellent test of any golfers ability. Several holes present outstanding challenges with water, out-of-bounds, undulating terrain, and several difficult (blind) tee shots involved. The course becomes even harder when wind comes up as it often does in this Mojave Desert community. This is an outstanding course to play for the money. Only lack of conditioning excellence on some holes keeps this from rating higher.

La Vista Golf Course
"New Name for La Vista Golf Course"
The new name for La Vista Golf Course in Wichita Falls, Texas is HAWK RIDGE GOLF COURSE. This course has undergone extensive improvements the last year and one half. The improvements made have made this into one of the best courses in this area. While I rated it as 3 stars, it could very well be on its way to being rated much higher.
