This course features two distinctive types of design. The front nine is a typical Scottish links design featuring very few trees, whereas the wooded back nine is a trails design that plays between homes lining the fairways. Marshes, wetlands, and ponds come into play on thirteen holes. The signature hole is #18, a 112-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot to an island green. The 5,153-yard men's tee also has a ladies' course rating of 71.9 and a slope of 124.

reviewer: droopy from michigan

I would like to give this course a four or five star ratings, but many of the patrons are rude, do not follow etittique. On each green, I had to repair several ball marks to have a decent putt, the fairways had many divets in them without any attempt to replace the grass. Groups do not allow faster groups to play through. I contacted the club house and while they were sympathatic to what was going there was no solution. A solution is always able on a golf course.

This course is a hidden gem. With new construction to the course, it makes it one of the best in the region. I will honestly say within two years it WILL be the best in all of the tristate region. The greens are kept in superb condition. A course that you will end up playing every club in your bag.

"A Classic golf Course"
Bass Rocks in my opinion is an ideal kind of golf course. Every time you play is different. The winds off the ocean can be a help at times. However, other times it can play havoc with your game. The course forces you to play almost every kind of shot there is. From high flops to knock downs, it will test your game. The staff is second to none. Friendly and always willing to offer a tip or two that will help make your round more enjoyable. The members make you feel right at home. Like they have known you for years, even if you just met. In my personal opinion, every town should have a club like Bass Rocks.

I have to admit that I have been a charter member since it opened about 5 years ago. It is a very pretty course and the greens and fairways are maintained in excellent condition. Indeed you can use every club in your bag during an 18 hole round. Fairways range from relatively flat to uphill or down hill. The greens are some what undulating such that an approach shot or chip close to the pin is rewarded while a shot further away typically will require at least a two put to get it in. So far a few sand traps have been installed with probably more to come. During the peak season the tees suffer some what from heavy member play and frequent tournaments. The restaurant has excellent meals especially on Friday and Saturday nights or for booked events. The staff are very friendly and ready and willing to assist in any way they can. The carts have GPS locator systems built into them (the 1st. in Central New York I believe) which enable you to electronically record your score, know your yardage at all times from the cart to the pin, and even to order refreshments at the turn. Try out the course. You will be pleasantly surprised.

"CCI is a great experience"
This is a great little course, with spectacular service, and subtle course designs that will keep your mind engaged, but will allow you to enjoy the peacefulness this sport provides. The grounds crew is continually trying to improve the courses conditions, and the golfers experiences as he/she works their way around to their best round ever.
