This hilly nine hole executive course will provide a real test of golf with water hazards coming into play on eight holes. The course was closed for construction in the fall of 1995, and a hurricane delayed the reopening until the spring of 1997.

"Oak Hills - fun place to golf"
The first hole is great, requiring a 90 degree second shot or a long high over the forest first shot. The second hole has a challenge too - up hill and over a gully. The whole course is interesting and a relatively easy play for golfers good and bad. I'm going back!

Bluebonnet Country Club

Bluebonnet Country Club is a compact, yet very fun little course to play. With reachable par 5s and greens that will test your ability to bring the ball in high, as well as, your ability to utilize the "bump and run" method of approach, Hico has a little bit of everything to offer to any golfer. Seeing as the course is wide open, don't be fooled by the winds that blow over the course! This course brings out the very best in country golfing in a laid back environment. The folks are very friendly and inviting and I highly recommend attending their tournaments or playing the course often. Be sure to step inside the clubhouse for a cold beverage and a good game of dominoes.

Bel-Air Country Club
"Fantastic walk in a high class park"
I really liked this course. The view south toward L.A. and Santa Monica Blvd from the first tee is really quite spectacular. The course is neatly carved into the hills of Bel-Air. It is a short course, requiring good shot-making, but one on which you can "go low" if you hit the tee-ball straight (don't even need driver on several holes), hit your short irons well, and tap it with your putter. These greens were fast I thought and several were small to boot. And they told me that they were mowing them high. Whew! I three-putted three times on the front. A player faces elevation changes throughout the course, but particularly on relatively long par threes on the back side - 10, 13, 16. The single par 5 on the back is a very long straight away hole with a steep hill to the right and a stream to the left. If you're in the groove, it looks like a runway and makes you want to swing away from the tee and go for the green in two. Long hole though and green is well-guarded by traps. The surrounding "real estate" adds to the views. Playing with someone who knows the history makes the round a very interesting experience. A lot of fun...would love to play it again.
