This course was originally built as a six hole design in 1884, and was later brought back to its original condition by Bob Cupp during the 1990's. Today, members play the course with old-time, hickory-shafted clubs and gutta percha balls, forming tees with sand and water. Because of its historical value, the USGA has taken a keen interest in this course and may take an active involvement in preserving its uniqueness.

I had the privilige of playing Oakhurst Links in October 2006. I had taken my collection of hickory shaft clubs to use. I was not able to use them because they were too NEW! What a HOOT!!! Any one that has even the least bit of interest in golf history MUST have the experience of Oakhurst Links. DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY!
