This course has open but tight fairways. Water comes into play on four holes. The signature hole is #8, a 194-yard, par 3, which has a tight fairway and a lake in front of the green.

| Brookwood is a "homemade" country type course with no sand traps but surprisingly good greens. Like many courses of its type, there are no sprinklers at the tee boxes and fairways. But, they make great use of the ones around the greens, and they are in excellent condition. The front nine is more open as some of the holes run parallel to each other with the fairways only separated by isolated cedars in most cases. The Par 5s on the front are considerably easier than on the back. Early on, the greens are relatively flat, but beginning with # 8, they become more slanted. I guess they're made this way to allow better drainage. The back nine is 2-3 strokes more difficult as it is more rolling, there are more water hazards as water comes into play on seven holes(each of the last five,) and the greens are fairly slanted on most holes. Green and cart fees are low, $20 on weekdays, $25 on weekends, and there are Sr. and twilight rates. Overall, Brookwood is a fun course for the mid to high handicapper and beginner. Not a championship test but fun to play nonetheless. |
