This hilly course, situated in the midst of a densely residential neighborhood in Queens, is rather short with tree-lined fairways and small, asymmetrical greens. There are three water holes, which is unusual for a city course. From hole #9, there is a captivating view of Lower Manhattan. The facility underwent renovations during 1997 and was lengthened by approximately 200 yards and increased to a par 70. Tee boxes were rebuilt, fairways and greens re-seeded, and cart paths were added. This course made the news during President Clinton's spring 1997 visit to New York to celebrate the anniversary of Jackie Robinson's breaking the baseball color barrier. A golfer was caught chipping balls at the presidential motorcade as it passed by the course. The consensus among those familiar with the perp's game said it was not a legitimate threat. John Van Kleek (1934) and Lindsay Ervin (1986) have done redesigns on this course.

potential does not make greatness, Jul 20, 2006
reviewer: malcolm from nyc
first off its as crowded as the e train during rush hour. second the course some times is overdone with trees and very low hanging branches that can wreak havoc on your game.the course does have a good design but some holes seemed mashed in just for the sake of 18. take hole no. 5 its as narrow as a 2 lane road, featuring a green that looks as if the shaggy d.a. is the maintenece man.if you can hit striaght you should be ok. hopefully. the back 9 eases up on tree trouble though. there is potential on that backside...lol

Short but Great, Feb 01, 2004
reviewer: Hal from queens, ny, USA
Since the course renovation in 1997 the new layout is great. Management has spent a lot of time and money fixing it up. It is a short course but very tight so it isn't as easy as it may seem. It is one of the most beautiful courses in NYC.
