This course is not too difficult, but it is quite scenic. The fairways vary in width, and water hazards come into play on at least six holes. Bob Lohmann redesigned the course in 1989. Walking is not allowed on the weekends until 2 PM, so carts are included in weekend green fees. Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 PM.

A very fair and fun course to play, Apr 27, 2004

I have played CWGC at least 25 times. It's always enjoyable. I don't mind going back consecutive weeks or even twice in a weekend because I always know what I'm going to get. The maintenance of the course is very good, plus it drains well, so you won't have many cart path only days and the conditions are consistent throughout the course. There's usually a nice breeze blowing, so it's not brutal on those fun hot days. The drink cart attendants are friendly and generally available. The greens fees are very fair, plus it's about 30 minutes from Woodfield if you can't drive 55 but won't go 90. The greens are quick enough to make putting interesting and the first 5 holes have ob on the right, so get your game on quickly because there isn't OB again until #9. The back 9 has 3 5's and 3 3's, so there's opportunity to turn a round around. All of the par 5's are plenty long and 15/18 are similar with downhill finishes. The 2nd and 12th holes are probably the most challenging holes on the course, the 12th with an uphill peanut shaped green that will leave you a nasty chip or pitch if you're long left or over the green, plus there's water and sand protecting the green on the front and right. Don't let the Dairy Farm on #2 get to you, it's not an issue after you finish the hole. The course has plenty of trees, but very little density, so you can shoot out in one usually. There's a reasonable amount of sand and water, also. Enjoy. A Regular
