This Scottish-style links course is set on the banks of the Detroit River. The greens are kept in very nice condition and there is water on two different holes, including #5, a 161-yard, par 3, which calls for a tee shot over a pond to the well-bunkered green. The staff is very friendly and well-informed about the course. The 2,769-yard men's tee also has a ladies' course rating of 35.4 and slope of 113.

Good for some, but not a course for everyone., Apr 20, 2007

$20 for 9 hole....too expensive!!! They should reduce the cost to $16. And this is why: This course has a simple layout, from it's semi challenging par 3's and short par 5's to its interactive landscape. What do I mean by interactive landscaping? Well depending on the mood and motivation of the grounds crew will determain if the course will play fast, slow or don't even bother. Somedays the grounds crew is on their game, but I have been to the course on several ocassions where the course has played borderline "don't even bother". The tee boxes are always hacked up. It doesn't matter what hole you are playing on. They offer dirt to cover the divots when they should offer grass seeds to help regrow the bad areas. The fairways are not well maintained, they are glowing white from all of the seagulls and canadian geese feathers and feces. If you do not golf with a multi-color ball, than expect to play a lot longer on the 1st hole, the par 5 going south along the electrical fencing and the 8th and 9th holes going along the Detroit river. Honestly plan 2.5 hrs. for 9 holes with a cart instead of 1.5 to 2 hrs., because you will spend a lot of time searching for your golf ball in the fairway. Sometimes it is quicker to hit into the rough and take your chances there. At least the game will play faster. The greens were long and generally in bad shape. The rough was tougher than the heather and sometimes it seems like it is taller than the heather. The sand traps are absolutely awful. Lets just say that the sand traps are a bit of a joke. That is if you like hitting off of concrete like pit, that is after the sand has been unattended for a complete season. The cart paths are in good shape and the assortment of colors from the flowers on the course are very nice. The water in the ball washers smell like an out-house, so washers beware. The golf carts are in good shape and the club house is nice. In short, this course is good for some, but not a course for everyone. Riverview Highlands Golf Course is about $34 for 18 holes....you do the math. This is why $20 for 9 hole....too expensive!!! They should reduce the cost to $16.

Swing and a miss..., Feb 19, 2005

Wyandotte Shores is a struggle of sort. It is a nine hole course that "everyone" can play. This course did have nice greens, that is until they rid themselves (in 2003) of the one individual that kept the course in good playing condition. Now, Wyandotte Shores enjoys a seemingly annual fungus that has all but destroyed the greens. Drainage is another problem; it is poor. Pace of play is an issue; expect (in many instances) to spend a minimum 2.5 hours completing the 9 holes. And when I say everyone can play, I include those that show up in jeans, tanktops and work boots, utilizing their buddy's clubs (and beer) to hammer away at the ball with no sense of what they're doing or any care from management, whose only concern was to take the money and release them onto the property with no afterthought. For those who enjoy and respect this game, and until management makes the much-needed effort, avoid this tract.

Well Kept, Jul 14, 2004
reviewer: Matt from Southeastern Michigan
Wyandotte Shores is a very well kept golf course that is enjoyable to play. Greens are immaculate as well as the fairways. Enough hazards to keep your attention. Price is reasonable. Only drawback is it's only a 9-hole course. So you'll have to play it twice. Just keep it middle left on 8 and 9 or you'll end up diving in the river!!
