This course requires shot accuracy due to a heavy cut of rough lining all of the fairways. The greens are hard to read because they are full of subtle breaks. In addition, water hazards come into play on five holes. "Golf Digest" rated this as the 19th "Best in State" course for 1995-96, and the 20th best for 1997-98. It was also rated as the "Best Public Course" in the state between 1993 and 1996. In addition, this course was rated 14th best under the category of "America's Top 75 Affordable Courses" in their 1996 list of "America's Best Golf Courses Everyone Can Play." The signature hole is #11, a 591-yard, par 5, featuring a design that plunges downhill and over a creek, then twists around stands of sycamores to a wide but shallow green. This hole was voted among "The Best 18 Holes You Can Play" by "Golf Digest" in 1997.

Absoloutly STUNNING! Very beautiful scenery and a real treat to play at. Service was top notch and the greens were perfect. Next time I'm in Ohio this course is a must!

September 2004.. Just an average course. Not taken care of like it was in the early 90's. Cartpaths nearly undriveable due to broken pavement and potholes. Several greens in poor condition. Sandtraps washedout. Overrated and Overpriced!!!!

"Tight and Challenging"
This course is a above average golfers dream. Length and contour is a premium. Tree lined fairways, you'd think you're in the Lincoln Tunnel.You need to play smart to score well. The below average golf will have ample oppurtunities to score well on the par 5's and the par 3's. The par 4's ,lets leave those for the big boys. In all, it is good for everyone, at a reasonable price, on a country club setting on a New England landscape.

Some of the holes are short but with the smaller greens and water meandering around the course it makes you think as to what club to scale back to as well as making sure you don't do too much slicing. Most of the holes you can hit right at the hole if you have a high 8,9 or PW. You have to be careful off the tee on some holes due to the water running across the fairway. The back nine has some undulating fairways. The largest green seems to be No. 18 and it slopes quite a bit downward from back to front. The fairway grass has gotten better over the years since it was known as SLOCUM golf course. The staff is friendly and accommodating.
